A Scholarship Committee is currently underway, with President Mali Lim chairing. Scholarships are being evaluated closely in light of IRS regulations for 501(c)6 organizations.

The SouthCoast Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association is offering a $1,500 scholarship, to be awarded to a deserving young woman in Bristol County, thanks to the generosity of the Stephen Bufton Memorial Fund. Each year, local chapters of ABWA provide scholarships to female students who will be attending accredited U.S. colleges, universities and community/vocational schools.

Applicants for the ABWA SouthCoast Scholarship must be female U.S. citizens seeking a baccalaureate degree or higher; enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the United States; and have completed at least 60 credit hours as of June 1, 2014 with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Applicants must be residents of Bristol County, MA (although a residency waiver is available for family members of ABWA SouthCoast Chapter members).

If you feel you would be eligible for this scholarship, please fill out and return the attached scholarship application screening form, along with a short 1 page personal statement introducing yourself to the ABWA, plus a copy of your college transcript. The final application to ABWA will require official transcripts, but for initial screening purposes our scholarship committee will accept an unofficial printout for now. Preliminary applications must be submitted to the ABWA SouthCoast Chapter by March 31, 2014, with final applications due online by June 1, 2014 at A minimum of three (3) eligible applications are required in order for the scholarship to be awarded. The scholarship recipient will be notified by August 1, 2014.
